Harrogate District summer race league

The HDSRL is a friendly league of local running clubs which organises a series of summer evening races each year.  Races are generally 5-6 miles and on the road, although increasingly the races include off-road paths.  Races are only open to members of affiliated clubs, with no guest members permitted.  There is a one-off individual fee to cover the whole series of races and the handicap race.

These races are all great fun and the atmosphere at every race is always amazing.  We normally include at least one of these races in the full club championship series.

peco cross country league

The PECO Cross Country League is a series of 5 cross country races organised in and around Leeds in which clubs affiliated to the League compete across men’s and ladies divisions.  Each race is about 4-5 miles.

The only way to enter the race series is to buy a season ticket online in advance for just £18, which provides entry to all five races.  Once registered and paid for, you will not need to register again all season.

This race series is one that members of Knaresborough Striders have been actively participating in for years and is great fun.  The league tends to run from November through to March, and we often select one of the races to feature in our full club championships.

Further information on the league can be found here.

New for 2024, we are pleased to offer our members (who are over the age of 33) the opportunity to participate in the Yorkshire Veterans Athletics Association (YVAA) series of events after recently becoming an affiliated club.

The YVAA promotes athletic events for over-35-year-olds in road, multi-terrain, cross country and fell events. There are Championship races which are one off races which are usually part of a regular race (such as the Halifax 10k) and there is a Grand Prix series of up to 10 multi-terrain races which are approximately 10K which are organised by one of the YVAA affiliated clubs across the Yorkshire region.

The Grand Prix races are also open to runners who are 33 or 34 who can run as guests but aren’t eligible for prizes on the day or the overall series prizes.

The events offer a vast number of new venues for Striders to participate at against our more local and usual calendar of events. These races frequently have over 200 runners, and are a great social as well as competitive outing, with refreshments and a prize-giving following each race and an awards evening at the end of the year.
