Club Championship 2024 – Event 5 – Hooded Horse – report and results

18th April 2024

Round 5 of the Club Champs and Round 4 of the Fell Champs saw a trip to the North York Moors and the Hooded Horse 10k race. We had 21 Striders completing the race. Following, what felt like, months of rain the course was muddier than usual. The day itself provided good running conditions and it was great to see a good tun out.

Below are the official results.

Hooded Horse 10k Results

In the Female Vet’s category we had 2 first timers in the 2024 club champs; so well done to Sue and Nicole. Sue also took the win in the category, our 3rd winner in 5 races, which means she enters the rankings in 8th place. Emma wasn’t far behind and took second place, which lifts her 2 places to 5th overall. Paula took her 4th podium in a row and remains in 2nd overall, while Kat has kept her 100% completion record in tact which keeps her top of the rankings.

Phil took his first win of the year, our third different winner in this category. While he didn’t climb up in the overall rankings, a first place is good to bank. Ewan has now collected his 3rd 2nd place in 4 races, this has moved him into 2nd overall. Guy took his second podium of the year and has also risen into the top 3, up from 5th. Nik, like Kat, kept his 100% completion record intact and sits at the top of the table. A couple of other things to mention: it was good to see Sean make his entrance into the 2024 club champs and on the topic of Sean he was only 0.001 behind Andrew, which is less than a second in realtime!

We only had one super woman in this category! Sima represented us well taking 2nd Female overall in the race! Obviously this also meant she took 1st place in her club champs category too (and also the 1st strider overall by age grading). Not only has Sima got the lowest (ie best score) in the club champs, but she has also completed 1 more race than anyone else. She will be tough to beat!

5 races and 5 different winners in the Senior Male category in 2024. Dan took that honour in race 5, with his first club champs of the year, which means he enters the table in joint 10th place. He also took 4th in the race overall. We also saw Tom K, Aidan and James C, make their first appearances of the year. Adam sits at the top of the champs, jumping up 3 places, with his second podium in 3 races, with Martin jumping 6 places to 2nd place. Dave was also a big riser up 7 places.

The next event is Run for Wildlife 10k on Sunday 21st April 2024
