2023 Club Championship Review

11th January 2024

Well…no sooner had 2023 started, it seems like it disappeared in the blink of an eye, and therefore so did the Club Championship!

It started off interestingly with a self-timed 10k in Skipton due to issues with equipment and ended off with a muddy, slosh around Hell Wath in Ripon!

The Club Championship is a great way for us to socialise with fellow members that we maybe wouldn’t see on club nights, to ensure we all have fun and of course, to represent our club with pride in our royal blue and gold…but we can’t ignore the fact that it is a competition!

And so to our winners in the 4 categories!

Congratulations to:

Tom Calvert

John Hamilton

Louise Lodh

Carla Reddish

There is also an extra special mention to Andy Clarke – and although feeling under the weather on a drizzly, mizzly New Years Eve – managed to complete every single Club Championship round in 2023, along with his very first marathon in Cologne.

2024 waves a sad farewell to a couple of races that were regular fixtures in the past, which were unsustainable in the current economical climate but it also brings new races to the calendar that we haven’t taken part in as a Club before and that’s going to be really exciting! A day out at the zoo anyone?

Thank you to all of you for your suggestions for races going forward and we will look to incorporating them in future calendars. I have a list (I love a list!).

Whether you entered one race or all of them, marshalled or cheered every Strider home, it’s been a fabulous year and one we can all reflect on fondly and I know that 2024 is going to be just as amazing!
